When designing the page , often open a child window from a page for visitors to view. Typically, this child window contents once viewers have seen , for the purposes of the viewer is no longer needed , but they often forget to turn off these small windows , causing many browser windows open, consume a lot of resources . Therefore, we can design a sub-window after a period of time can be automatically closed form.

In this case produced a two page , shown in Figure 1 , Index.html is displayed in the child window page, and the page is called firstpage.html , include a link to open Index.html in the child window. Click the link, will open index.html in the child window . You can click directly on the child window "close" link to close the child window , you can not ignore it , after 15 seconds , the child window will automatically close .

To do the following :

1 generates a Smlple folder in the local site .

2 In Smlple folder, create a file called Index.html and called firstpage.html 's .

3 Double-click the Index.html, open the document , go to the document's Design view window.

4 Click the menu View / Head Content, display head area of the document.

5 Click the document in Design view window panes head . Select the menu Insert / Invisible Tags / Script, open Inset Script dialog. Shown in Figure 2 , in the Language drop-down list box, select the javascript option and enter Coctento text box "setTimeout (" self.close () ", 15000)". Click the OK button to complete in 15 seconds after the head of the document is inserted automatically close the child window 's script. In the code, 15000 15000 milliseconds said , that 15 seconds , may also need to modify the number of milliseconds for their own needs .


6 Enter the "off" word in the document window , enter " # # #" in the properties panel Link text box, set it to an empty link.

7 in the status bar at the left end Quick Tag Editor , click the Mark button. Select the "off" link, and then press Ctrl + T key combination to open the Quick Tag Editor , go to the Quick Tag Editor edit tags mode. Then in the " > " before entering "onclick =" selfclose () "". As shown in Figure 3 , is set up, click the OK button to confirm the operation. So after Index.html as a child window is opened , click on the link you can immediately close the child window.


8 Save the Index.html file and exit the Dremweaver index.html window .

9 Now start designing fristpage.html page. In Smlple local site files folder , double-click fristpage.html, open the document , go to the document's Design view window.

10 Enter in the document , " click here to open a child window closes automatically " word . Then enter in the properties panel Link text box "# # #" , set the empty link.
