Food Coloring Experiments For Kids – Blue, pink or green?
Nature offers us wonderful colors in vegetables and fruits. Can we change the color of a vegetable juice?
Materials needed

  • 3 glasses

  • 1 bowl

  • 1 teaspoon

  • 1 red cabbage

  • 1 lemonFood Coloring Experiments For Kids Food-coloring-experiments-for-kids-img

  • liquid detergent

  • Very hot water

Experience
The experiment was conducted in the presence of an adult

  1. Immersed for 30 minutes several cabbage leaves in a bowl of very hot water (ask the adult to help) and desmenúzalas. When cool, pour the liquid only in the first vessel, leaving the sheets within the container.

  2. Squeeze the lemon juice and pour the second cup. Add 1 teaspoon of detergent into the third glass.

  3. Pour a few drops of the potion of cabbage in lemon juice and add 5 teaspoons of potion to detergent.

What color do you get in each glass?
The explanation
The potion of red cabbage is now dark blue.
In the lemon juice, becomes pink and green with the detergent!
The cabbage is purple, thanks to small pigments that have been released
in water during heating. The pigments collected
are dark blue.
Some products react with each other, changing the color: the juice
lemon gives a pink color, whereas the detergent gives
a green color.

Food Coloring Experiments For Kids Application
Experimenting with the potion of experience
a little milk, yogurt, egg, salt, detergent,
bread, vinegar, toothpaste, yeast, saliva, we can
realize that many products of everyday life
may resemble two groups: those that are colored juice
red cabbage and green color it in pink.
The former, as the detergent or egg, are
part of what we call grassroots group, the latter
as lemon juice or vinegar, are part
of acids.
