Maya 4.0 NURBS Modeling - curve modeling tool
Curve modeling is the use of the contour model curve drawing, the sectional shape of the rotating section or part of the model, by extrusion, to produce the desired rotation or lofting model. Controllable point curve tool

Changing the shape of the curve

Pencil Curve Tool

Arc tool
