The death of poor Benson the giant carp got me thinking.
Benson lived to around 25 years old - she died young. Carp can live up to 100 years.

One hundred years? Yep, the fish should easily outlive most of us.
So how old can animals get?
Here's a list reproduced from Did You Know?
The figures show the average recorded age in years of the animals and seem to be pretty accurate.
UPDATED: This list was a mix of average ages and record ages. I have corrected them to give a more usual lifespan - though obviously some are estimates as ages can vary wildly depending on the species.
