1 Create a new image by clicking file=> new, that is

  • 775 pixels wide
  • 600 pixels high
  • 72 ppi
  • RGB mode
  • White

2. Click on your background layer and press Ctrl + I, to invert it and make it black.

3. Hit your D key to set your default colors. Hit your X key to reverse them. Click on your view menu and make sure rulers has a check next to it. If not, click on rulers. Right click on your ruler on top of your image and select pixels.
Select your line shape tool, set to draw a line shape. Starting at the 0 on top and 100 mark on the left hold your shift key and draw the line to the right until you hit the 200 mark on the top. Starting at the end of this line draw up 15 pixels holding your shift key down to get it exactly vertical. Then draw from the end of this line to the right holding your shift key down until you are off the canvas.

4. Right click on this layer on the layers panel and select rasterize layer. Duplicate this layer, crating shape copy, and click edit=> transform=> flip vertical. Line this up so the left side of the line is overlapping. Link both shape layers. Click Layer=> Merge Linked.

5. Control click your shape layer to select the lines. Insert a layer by clicking on the insert new layer icon on the bottom of the layers panel. Turn the eye off on your shape layer and make sure your layer1 is highlighted. Click Edit=> Stroke. Set the stroke to 3 pixels, outside white.
6. Use the Magic wand set to New Selection option to select the top line. Set the forground color to gold, Hex value #E9DC52. Click Edit=> fill. Fill this line with a gold setting to forground color, normal mode and opacity 100%
Select the bottom line using the magic wand. Change your foreground line to gray, hex #CCCCCC. Fill this line with gray by clicking edit=> fill.


[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Select the inside line using the magic wand tool. Select the rectangular marquee tool set to subtract for the selection. Draw a rectangle around the top half of the current selection. This will leave only the bottom selected. Set the forground color to gold, Hex value #E9DC52. Click Edit=> fill. Fill this line with a gold setting to forground color, normal mode and opacity 100%
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Select the upper half of the inner rectangle wiht your magic wand now. Change your foreground line to gray, hex #CCCCCC. Fill this line with gray by clicking edit=> fill. Then hit your D key followed by your X key.
7. Right click on the layer1 and select Blending options. Check the box for bevel and emboss. Click on bevel and emboss and set the following:

  • Inner bevel
  • Chisel hard
  • Depth = 100%
  • direction = up
  • size =2 px
  • soften = 0
  • angle = 120
  • altitude = 30
  • Normal contour.

Click on the check box for the [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Gradient overlay and select it in the blending options. Set the following:

  • blending mode= normal
  • opacity = 32%
  • gradient is white to black, reverse checked
  • style= reflected, align with layer checked.
  • angle = 97 degrees
  • scale = 150 %

8. Duplicate this layer, layer copy, and click edit=> transform=> rotate 180 degrees. Use your move tool to position it so the bottom most line intersects the ruler on the left at 550 pixels. Link it to the layer1 and merge the layers by clicking layer=> merge linked.

You may delete your shape layer by right clicking it and selecting delete.
9. Click on your background layer. Open your woodland image. Using your move tool with your shift key down to center it, drag the woodland image to your canvas and drop.

Apply your scaling transformation.
10. Click on layer 1 on the layers panel. Select the magic wand set to 32 tolerence, antialias, contiguous, and add to selection.

Click above the Top lines and click below the bottom lines to select the area for the forest image. Click back on your layer 2, the forest image. Click the "Add Layer Mask" button on the bottom of the layers panel.
11. Open your crocus images. They are identical sizes and were resized for this tutorial. Use the move tool and drag them each onto your canvas. Link the two flower layers. and with the move tool, use the align option on the move tool options, to align right. Use your move tool to move them to a nice position between top and bottom lines on the left of the canvas..

Click Layer=> Merge Linked.
12. Control Click the crocus image layer. to select the images. Click the add new layer button on the bottom of the layers panel. Highlight the new layer.
13. Click Select=> modify=> expand. and set to 5 pixels. Hit your D key followed by your X key. Click Edit=> stroke and set to 2 pixels. Duplicate this layer.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]14. Select your move tool. On the top layer nudge the image left and up 3 pixels (zoom in if need be). Click on the other stroke layer beneath it. Nudge it 3 pixels down and to the right.
15. Click on your top stroke layer. Set the foreground color to hex value E9DC52 and click edit=> fill. Set the fill to foreground, and opacity 100% and Check preserve transparency.
16. Click on your bottom stroke layer. Set the foreground color to hex value CCCCCC and click edit=> fill. Set the fill to foreground, and opacity 100% and Check preserve transparency.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

17. Link the two stroke layers and click layer=> merge linked. Hit your D key followed by your X key. right click on the layer and select blending options.
18. Check the box for bevel and emboss. Click on bevel and emboss and set the following:

  • Inner bevel
  • Smooth
  • Depth = 100%
  • direction = up
  • size =1 px
  • soften = 0
  • angle = 120
  • altitude = 30
  • Normal contour.
