1 Paste a picture in Illustrator.

2 The picture is colourful. Use a bright colour stroke for drawing.
3 Choose the Brush tool.

4 Make a new layer and lock the photo layer.
5 Open Calligraphic brushes. Choose 1 pt. Oval.
6 Double click on the Brush Tool and set the Tolerances to 2 pixels, the Smoothness to 4 percent. Press OK.

7 Draw the nose first.

8 Next the forehead. If you wan to use the line or don’t wan to use it then, click on it and continue drawing.
9 Continue the drawing.
10 When you are finished make adjustments to lines using the Direct Selection Tool and choose individual points. Delete the photo layer.
11 Use the Pen Tool to draw a medium grey shape. Make it an Art Brush by selecting Hue Shift.

12 Change the stroke colour. Apply the new brush to the sketch. Hide the photo layer. Delete and redraw the stroke if you don’t like it with the photo layer in view. Here I redrew the first eyebrow because I didn't like the thickness of it.

13 Using the Scissors Tool cut the thick lines. Here the nose, hair and ear were cut.

14 Now Select All and reduce the stroke weight of all the lines.
