We are going to use this cartoon for this lesson.

Choose everything and select the Live Paint Bucket Tool.

Give the drawing a white fill and then create a brown filled rectangle for and sent it to the back for a frame. Choose the Live Paint Bucket Tool and fill the different portions of the drawing.

Select Expand to expand the drawing and carry out the texturing of the colours.

Make sure the Appearance Palette is visible. Choose the cactus.
Then select Patterns.
Choose the Basic Graphics Dots from Basic Graphics.
Now we can see the different patterns available under Dots.

Make a new Fill layer from the Appearance Palette. This way you can preserve the original colour while adding a design to the colour. Choose a dot pattern from the available dots.
Now we have the dotted ground in original colour.

Follow the same procedure. Open the Basic Graphic Lines patterns also and make an interesting piece of art.
