The M1919 was an air-cooled version of the standard US machine gun the 1917A1. It saw service in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. Some countries still use the 1919A4 to this day. It has seen a wide variety of roles from infantry to vehicles such as the Jeep and the m3 half track and aircraft mounts such as the rear gun on the Douglas Dauntless and the PBY flying boat. It has been used in a variety of calibers by numerous countries. The M1919A4 was produced from 1919 till 1945.
