Tutorial 2: V3 to V4 Example

Start the Shoe Converter as per the instructions then load the V3 shoe figure from the library. I believe the shoe seen here is available in the Renderosity freestuff. Search for "Pash77". (If it was not that one it is very similar). Only the right shoe is required. If the figure includes a left shoe simply ignore it.
Use the "Load Cobbler's Last" button to load the most appropriate last prop. In this example it will be the high heeled one.
Start by positioning the shoe's BODY to get the best fit, then fine tune by bending the right foot. This should be a quick alignment, there is no point spending ages trying to get a perfect fit. Once a fit has been achieved click the "Create Dummy Shoe" button.

Now load the V4 figure and zero her using the button provided. If you are concerned that this will also zero the V4 magnets use the alternative Utilities > Zero Pose (exclude mags) button.

Select the BODY of the dummy shoe and use the dials to get the best initial fit to the V4 right foot. The alignment of the shin in this example did not need to be adjusted.

For the toes I found that the best solution was to bend the V4 toes up and the Dummy Shoe's toe down, then use the Dummy Shoe's Toe magnet to fine tune the shape. No two shoe/figure conversion will be the same. Best to experiment. Also do not be afraid to adjust the joint parameters of the dummy shoe if required. For this example I did change the rotation point of the Dummy Shoe's toe slightly. (04-26-2007 I have now issued an update to reflect this. Please see the update page).
When a satisfactory fit has been created click the "Make Conforming Pair" button.
I then saved the converted shoes to the library. Then to ensure that I got a clean fresh start I opened a new document, reloaded V4 and the shoes.

Conforming the shoes initially gives the result shown on the left foot. But remember that the shoes were made with the V4 toes bent up? So to compensate bend the shoe's toe down by the same amount. I also found that I needed to turn off the shoe's fall off zones for the foot and toe bends (click here for details).
The result is the converted conforming shoe on the right foot.]
