This slider tutorial will cover adding sliders, rigging them to auto hide when not in use, and hooking up multiple channels to a single slider.

NOTE: Save often with incremented file names ie: slider_tut_001.lwo, slider_tut_014.lws. This may save you some time if you do a step incorrectly.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Open Modeler, create a default box. Save it as box.lwo and send it to layout

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Add 2 nulls name them SliderSelector and SliderNull. Parent SliderNull to SliderSelector and parent SliderSelector to the box. Move SliderSelector above the box and key it in place if you dont have autokey turned on.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Select SliderNull and use the scene editor to hide it using the visibility tab.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Click on the scene tab. Open the Master plugins panel and add ProxyPick. Set the proxy object to SliderSelector and the Target Item to SliderNull. Click the apply label button. Uncheck the check mark for the proxy pick plugin to temporarily disable it.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Select SliderSelector, open the object properties, double click the itemshape plugin to edit it, change the label name to Box Sliders. Close the Item Shape panel. Reopen the Master plugins panel and activate the Proxy Pick Plugin. If all is well any attempt to select the SliderSelector should select the hidden SliderNull instead.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
With SliderNull selected open its object properties. Add the slider plugin, double click it to open the slider panel.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Open the box channels and one at a time select the three rotation channels and the x scale channel and click add channel. Leave the min max and label info at default. Hit continue to close the slider panel.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Your 4 sliders should now be displayed. Select the Sliders tool from the item tools tab and drag the sliderset up to the top of the viewport using the top left drag icon. Play with the sliders to see thier effect. If you select the box the sliders will auto hide themselvesand if you click on the Box Sliders tag in the viewport they should reappear. When your satisfied everything works set the sliders back to 0,0,0 and 1 for scale.

Now were going to hook 2 values up to a single slider. To do this we are going to 1st hook the 2 values we want up to a master channel. Go back to the scene tab and open the Master plugins panel again. Add a master channel and name it Box YZ scale.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Select the Box, open the graph editor. Browse to the bottom of the channel bin and expand MC. Drag the Box YZ Scale channel up into the listed channels. Select the expressions tab.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Click new on the expression tab to create a new expression, Change the expression name to Box YZ Scale, delete the Value in the value box and left click the MC:Box YZ scale channel, right click the same channel and choose append to expression

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
MultiSelect the box.Scale.Y and box.Scale.Z channels, switch to the expressions bin tab, make sure Box ZY Scale is the only expression hilighted and click apply on the expressions main tab. A single dot should go next to each channel to show its controlled by an expression and the Box YZ expresion should report attached: 2.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Close the graph editor. You'll notice that your box will have vanished. Thats because the master channel starts at a value of 0. So your box is currently at 0 Y and Z scale. Not to worry. Click the Box Sliders tag in the viewport to bring up the sliders. Open the properties and double click the sliders plug to open the slider panel. Expand the MC set in the slider panel and choose the Box YZ scale master channel. Click add channel to add it to your slider panel. Leave the min max and label setting at the default. Hit continue to close the slider panel.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Set the MC:Box YZ Scale slider to 1 to bring your box back. Play with the sliders to see the different effects. Test out what the other controls on the slider title do.

I hope this tutorial was helpful in getting you going on using sliders. Theres a lot of other tricks you can do with sliders and hopefuly I'll have time to make up a nice tut for them too.]
